More Gisele For Versace

More Versace campaign photos feauturing Gisele have been released and they look amazing! The first one is just perfect and my fav photo of the campaign.
Check the rest of the campaign here.

Vintage Dreamland - Prada Spring/Summer 2012 Campaign

Once my sister asked me who my favorite designer was. Without even thinking, the words Miuccia Prada came out of my mouth, and from that day, it was settled, she is my favorite designer. I've talked about what her designs mean to me here on the blog, but I shall share that again. Miuccia puts my dreams and my fantasies on the runway and sends me back to my dream land. Every single time! This American 50's inspired collection is no different. Actually, this is one of my favorites ever. And so is the campaign. I guess it must have something to do with my dream of doing a road trip through the US in a muscle car, stopping for gas in the hot desert...Maybe 2012 is the year! And maybe, just maybe, I'll look as great as these gals!

The Prada SS2012 campaign was shot by Steven Meisel and features models Meghan Collison, Elise Crombez, Katryn Kruger, Natasha Poly, Ymre Stiekema and Guinevere Van Seenus, the current face of Miu Miu.

Kate Beckinsale Flaunts It

Kate Beckinsale covers Harper's Bazaar Russia January 2012
Kate Beckinsale covers Flaunt #118
Love! Love! Love! Such a beautiful woman and such great covers! The classic 1960's beauty of HB and that sublime expression on Flaunt... Perfection! She's working it like a super model! If I were a big fashion brand I'd be calling Kate like RIGHT NOW!

Adoro! Adoro! Adoro!

Aliens in Pretty Shoes - Mariacarla Boscono for YSL Spring/Summer 2012

Mariacarla Boscono for  Yves Saint Laurent's S/S 2012 Campaign Ad

YSL has chosen Mariacarla as the brand's S/S 2012  face. The model was shot by David Sims and is sporting an alien like look with very thin drawn brows over her own erased brows. I wish this whole "no brow" look would go away forever but I guess it works in high fashion. The photos look pretty amazing though! Although I get the feeling of a fall/winter ad and not a spring ad. What's going on this year? Some sort of fashion revolution against summer? Or am I completely overreacting?

And those shoes...Those shoes have been killing me since I first saw the on the runway! It's so heartbreaking knowing I can never have them...

A Bit Of Magic - Nicholas Kirkwood Christmas Card

Nicholas Kirkwood Christmas Card

Gorgeous! He should really work on making these shoes wearable. How amazing would they be?

Lindos!

Resident Obsession

Milla Jovovich as Alice in "Resident Evil: Afterlife"(2010)

Milla Jovovich as Alice in "Resident Evil" (2002)

In the last month I've watched "Resident Evil : Afterlife" twice. I have this thing with zombies... Don't judge! However my favorite thing in the movie has nothing to do with flesh-eating beings. I'm completely obsessed with the jacket Milla Jovovich is wearing in the movie (first picture) . It's so cool, so relaxed and so warm. After all, she was supposedly wearing it in Alasca... But this isn't the first time I've obsessed over Milla Jovovich's outfits. Back in 2002 when the first "Resident Evil" was released I became slightly obsessed with her boots. Black leather knee-high boots that just kicked ass. I looked all over and I finally found ones that looked just like hers. They were expensive but they lasted until I was in my 3rd year of college, so about 6 years. And I wore them a lot. They were my badass boots and I must say I feel less of a badass without them.
Do you have an item or outfit that makes you feel like you can take on the world?

No último mês, vi o "Resident Evil : Afterlife" duas vezes. E eu usei-as bastante.

Xmas Gifts For The Ones I Love

 Topshop

Today I meant to go Christmas shopping but it was so warm inside and so cold outside...I did manage to look for some inspiration and I found this amazing head band for my sister and these earmuffs for my mom. My sister is definitely the trendsetter in her preteen clique so this would be perfect. My mom on the other hand has a more romantic, lady like taste, which is why these crochet earmuffs would be a great gift. She's also very cold, so it's cute and practical.
Tomorrow I'll try to ignore this dreadful Irish weather and do some serious Christmas shopping! How about you? Are you done with your shopping? Do you like getting gifts for others? I love it! I just wish I wouldn't stress so much over the fact that it might not be the perfect gift!
Also, are you more frugal this year, since the crisis is really hitting or do you go crazy? I'm trying to get more useful gifts and buy less things, but all the pretty things keep calling me...

Dark Surfers - Gisele for Givenchy Spring/Summer 2012

Gisele Bündchen is the new face of Givenchy for S/S 2012. The model was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott under a dark beach sky, proving that summer doesn't have to be all sunny and colorful. It kinda reminds of the beach in the movie Twilight, don't you think (disclaimer: I watched the first movie and I liked it, but I'm not a crazy Twilight fan, that passes out when she sees Robert Pattinson or Taylor Lautner without a shirt ok? So chill!)? It's hard to think of this as a summer campaign but it's so stunning no one really cares. I don't really like to think of  things as being intentional, specially in fashion, but maybe this really was meant to push the boundaries of what we think makes a season.

Covers, Covers, Covers...

Carola Remer for Vogue Deutschland January 2012

Lily Cole for Vogue Russia January 2012

Karlie Kloss for Numéro #129 Dec 2011/ Jan 2012

Candice Swanepoel for Harper's Bazaar España January 2012

Karlie Kloss for Vogue Italia December 2011

Here are a few magazine covers I'm loving these days! Even though they'r all amazing I'm loving Vogue Deutschland (Germany) the most. All that color and that pink...Maybe I can get at the airport next Friday at a decent price. Speaking of which...I asked my boyfriend's best friend, who was flying from California to Dublin to get me the January issues of  American Elle and American Vogue. He got home with the December issue of Elle and the December issue of Vogue Italia...I wasn't too upset though...It's the most controversial issue of recent Vogue Italia and an Elle, so it's pretty good. He did ok for a guy! Thanks! :)
Taking a closer look at Vogue Italia featuring Karlie Kloss I got a better appreciation for the cover and for Karlie herself. She truly is a beautiful girl and a great model.  I wish people would stop judging her and Vogue Italia!

Toda aquela cor e aquele rosa...

Sweet Spring - Louis Vuitton Spring /Summer 2012 campaign

Kati Nescher and Daria Strokous for Louis Vuitton S/S 2012 by Steven Meisel

I just saw the new Louis Vuitton S/S 2012 campaign and I'm in love! The pastel colors, the set, the child/ladylike attitude of the models...So sweet and bubble gum cute! Can we fast forward to Summer already?
(I was wary of those mules first, but they are really growing on me! Ok, I confess, I'm crazy over them!)

Naomi Watts for Harper's Bazaar Australia January 2012

Naomi Watts in Prada for Harper's Bazaar Australia January 2012

Ah beautiful Summer covers... How not to crave for the sun and desert beaches with a cover like this?
The turquoise blue lettering and that amazing jewelery just make wanna pack my bikini and go somewhere far far away...

Gisele and Ryan for Versace Spring/Summer 2012

The amazing Gisele and the slightly less amazing Ryan Barrett are the stars of the new Versace S/S 2012 campaign shot my Mert Allas and Marcus Piggott in Borrego Springs, California.
Gisele looks phenomenal as usual, proving she's worth every penny of her supermodel paycheck. This woman is the bomb! Ryan, however, is kinda dead. I hate to be all ANTM's judge on him, but we kinda lost his face, which is a shame, when you got a face like that!

Portuguese Do It Better - Vogue Portugal January 2012

Aymeline Valade wearing Emilio Pucci photographed by Giampaolo Sgura and styled by Anna Dello Russo for Vogue Portugal January 2012

Starting the day with some Portuguese pride!
Another great Vogue Portugal cover! I think we really are up there with the big dogs!
(Does it still count if the model's French and the stylist and photographer are Italian? Well it's Vogue PORTUGAL, so...yes it does!)

And Mommy dearest is gonna have it there waiting for me when I get home for Xmas!:)

Olivia & The Dog

These pictures of Olivia Palermo have been all over the blogs and I couldn't help myself but share them with you! It's been a while since I've seen such a beautiful, classy, but still different outfit! And the dog just adds to the cuteness!
I've never posted anything Olivia related but I love her style and from the interviews I read with her, I believe she's a very cool and smart girl. She might have been a bit of a bitch in "The City", but who wouldn't next to good girl Whitney Port? I must admit that one of the reasons that I'm so drawn to her is because she looks a lot like my mom when she was younger... Oddly enough I look a lot like my mom, but nothing like Olivia! Oh well...

And that must be a very well trained dog, cause if I walked my dog/posed for a photo with my dog in those heels, while carrying a clutch, I'd surely break a leg!

Hello Kitty Covers Elle Taiwan December 2011

Who did Elle Taiwan decide to put on its December cover? The one and only, the white and bubbly Hello Kitty! And when a style icon graces your cover, you don't just have one cover, you have two!
I'm pretty sure Kitty fans are going crazy right now, trying to figure out a way to getting their hands on this collector's item. Wanna bet we'll see a lot of them on e-bay?
I'm not a crazy Hello Kitty fan, but I think Elle did a great job with the covers. I love the polka dots lettering on the second cover, but I think the pink one is more appealing (I'm having a huge pink moment!)! How about you? Do you like them? Do you think it was a bold but right move on Elle Taiwan's behalf or are fashion magazines taking it too far these days? I think it was a fun idea and I wouldn't mind seeing more of our favorite cartoons on magazine covers!

A única, a branquinha e fofinha, Hello Kitty!

Raf Simons For Dior?

WWD announced today that Raf Simons will be the new creative director for Dior. Raf Simons is the current creative director for Jil Sander and has his own menswear collections Raf Simons and Raf by Raf Simons. If he is indeed to accept the job previously held by Galliano, he should be leaving Jil Sander. Although this has yet to be confirmed by Dior, the fashion world is accepting the word of WWD as true.
I must admit that I was expecting someone more out there, but I'm curious to see what the Belgian minimalist can bring to the table. I'm huge fan of his work for Jil Sander and I'm sure he's up for the challenge!
What do you think of Raf for Dior? Would you rather have someone else in the job? Who? I confess that when they "announced" it'd be Marc Jacobs, I thought it made sense, but I'm not too picky! As long as there's talent!

As minhas desculpas!

Meryl Streep Covers US Vogue January 2012

Meryl Streep is on the cover of the January 2012 issue of US Vogue for the first time. I figured such a talent and beauty would have graced the magazine's cover before, but no, it's indeed Meryl's first US Vogue cover. At 62, Meryl also breaks the record of being the oldest person in a US Vogue cover. How gorgeous is she at 62? And such a brilliant actress. She's definitely my favorite actress in the world. I'm so looking forward to seeing "The Iron Lady"!

Meryl was, obviously, photographed by Annie Leibovitz and even though it's not a breathtaking cover, I quite enjoy the American simplicity of it. Of course this historical issue must be in my collection and hopefully I'll have it here soon. My boyfriend's best friend is in California and I already asked him to bring me Vogue and Elle. Let's hope he doesn't forget! I'm really curious to read both issues.

So what do you think about this cover? Let me know!

1 of 5 a Day

Mulberry

I don't know about you, but I'm having such a Carmen Miranda moment! I'm craving fruit everywhere. In my closet, in my kitchen...Everywhere! Even my crib/nativity scene is an apple. Seriously! It's baby Jesus, Mary and Joseph inside the half of an apple. How cute is that? (If my camera works I'll post a picture of it.)
I used to think that fresh fruit was a Summer thing, but now I believe you can be fruity all year long. And to prove my theory I bring you the Mulberry Googly fruit jumpers in angora. They must be so warm and cozy! (And I'm so warm deprived! Coming to live in Ireland with a Portuguese wardrobe was such a mistake...) But despite the coziness and obvious cuteness, my boyfriend was wondering how a jumper could cost €370 (here), so I explained it was Mulberry. He still doesn't get it! Men...

Unleashed

This year Bergdorf Goodman's holiday video is promoting animal adoption in a very cute and touching way! I was very excited that the department store endorsed this cause, since is the one closest to my heart!

I'd like to remind all of you that there are animals in the streets, pounds and shelters that need your love. There's no need to spend enormous amounts of money on a pet, when there are millions of animals out there that are willing to give you everything for food, shelter and of course, lots of love!

If you can't adopt a pet, there are many ways to help. Shelters are usually in need of food, medicine, toys and blankets. Every bit helps!

Too Twisted

Vogue Italia has apparently succumbed to pressure by removing this picture of Karlie Kloss from their website vogue.it . The model covers the December issue of the magazine, that also includes and editorial with the model photographed by Steven Meisel. The editorial named "Body by Kloss" shows the very skinny model (aren't they all?) in hardly any clothes showing off her barely there body.
Honestly I think it was a mistake. This photo, apart from disturbing, is a great fashion photo and say what you want, but that pose isn't impossible. I'm 95kg and I can do it! Well, almost. But the point is, that is not impossible for a body without fat. Now, how that body is without fat, I cannot tell. Is she naturally skinny? Does she suffer from an eating disorder? Is she a skinny person that works out a lot? I don't know! But it's unfair to judge a model and a photo because some girls got jealous!
That's not my ideal body by far, but it's her body and we are to judge? We should be more shocked by her performance at the Victoria's Secret's show! What was all that? Oh well, the guys seemed to have liked it. Yesterday, one of my boyfriends' friends was commenting on how that show was the best thing he's ever seen. I thought he was absolutely insane, but instead of saying anything I just kept my mouth shut, hoping they would forget this 95kg fat girl was there and that I'm actually dating one of their friends...
So what are your thoughts on this? Was Vogue Italia right taking out that photo from the website? Is that photo really that bad? And how about Karlie Kloss's talent as a model?
And this one's for the girls: Do you ever feel embarrassed for your boyfriend being with you? I mean, that he is dating you and not some hot girl? I get that sometimes...Please, don't tell me I'm alone on this one!

The Other Gaga

Turns out there were two Elle UK covers with Gaga! I guess if you have Gaga in your magazine for the first time, you better make it special. When I saw them I prayed for a cover/back cover kind of thing, but no, there were two of them. And God, I hate choosing! Even though I really loved the other one, I ended up buying this one. Up close it has much more visual impact and the boyfriend, who paid for it (How could I not be completely crazy about a man who buys me fashion mags without judgement?), also liked this one better, so...
Think I made the right decision? Which one do you like best?

Kate Moss as David Bowie for Vogue Paris, December 2011

Monica Bellucci as Cruella De Vil and cute dalmatian puppy for Tatler Russia, December 2011

What do you think of these covers? I wanna hear from you!;)

Step Aside Gisele...

...the Disney princesses are here!
It was about time someone gave these girls a magazine cover! Thank you Petite Tiaras for giving them a chance!
What's your favorite cover? I'm feeling Harper's Bazaar, Seventeen and Snow White's angles on Vogue! And how about those story titles? So cute!

(I'm sorry the image is so small, but the blogger wasn't accepting a bigger image. Just click on the picture to take a better look at it.)

Marni at H&M

Ah, there's nothing like good news in the morning to cheer you up! Today fashionistas around the world are going crazy after the announcement of Marni's collaboration with H&M. A collaboration I wasn't expecting but that I welcome all the same. Marni is definitely one of my favorite brands. I just love the prints and shapes... I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with brand founder and creative director Consuelo Castiglioni since this design genius started her career as a fur designer...But let's forget that unfortunate moment (after all everyone makes mistakes) and focus on the brands newest adventure.

The collection, which includes a line for women and men, is all we expect of Marni, colorful and playful, mixing lot's of tribal and geometric prints, with a ever chic essence. I'm glad to see that menswear line is somewhat masculine and will appeal to a broader audience that the Versace collection, for instance. I'd love to see my boyfriend in that blue and grey striped sweater. I also got my eye on the blue and white jacket in the first picture and in some of the necklaces that are shown in the video. The shoes are also looking very tempting, but I'm afraid that the quality might not be the best...
As always I wanna know your opinion. Are you excited about this collaboration?

Marni at H&M will be available from March 8 2012 in 260 stores and online and I wanna be in line to get my Marni fix!
